Attendance has picked up this year, said DeVera Heard, Heritage Council president. After a few years of pulling in crowds of about 5,000, some 8,000 people were expected to show up on Saturday.

The parade and fair were sponsored by the Orange County Heritage Council. Members of 100 Black Men of Orange County, motorcycle clubs, church groups, athletes and parade grand marshal Kellita Smith of “The Bernie Mac Show” waved to thousands of onlookers during the hourlong parade down Anaheim Boulevard.
